The Cyprus Investment & Asset Management Conference

On Tuesday 28 April 2015, C.Y Actuaries hosted a conference at the Hilton Park Hotel in Nicosia, titled "The Cyprus Investment & Asset Management Conference". The conference was attended by around 200 representatives from the asset management, insurance and pension fund industries, as well as major corporations based in Cyprus and Greece.

A high profile panel consisting of senior officials from the EBRD, the IMF and Amundi debated the economic implications of fiscal and monetary policies, and the current investment environment in Cyprus. Delegates had the opportunity to attend presentations from leading professionals in Cyprus and Greece on the economic outlook, the role of the asset management industry, the effective deployment of capital and investing in the current world of low yields. The morning session of the conference concluded with Bert Pijls, the CEO of Hellenic Bank, responding to questions from a panel of business leaders and the audience regarding the local economy, the banking system in Cyprus and some specific issues relating to his vision and strategy for Hellenic Bank.

During lunch, John Hourican, CEO of Bank of Cyprus delivered the keynote speech which aimed at generating a debate on how to move from the current austerity to a prosperous future for the Cyprus economy and the need for a long term plan in order to achieve this.

We would like to thank all attendees for their participation and our sponsors for their contributions in making this event a huge success!
